East San Gabriel Valley Coalition for the Homeless (ESGVCH) is delighted to announce the award of a $10,000 grant from Kaiser Federal Bank of Covina. The funds will support ESGVCH in its mission to provide direct aid to the homeless of the East San Gabriel Valley region. The aid includes: emergency shelter, food, hygiene, support for transportation (bus tokens and gasoline vouchers). These funds come at just the right time for ESGVCH, since donations have been down a bit due to the recent downturn in the U.S. economy. In early summer the ESGVCH Board of Directors briefly considered whether to reduce hours of operation at the Emergency Assistance Center to save money, but with the award of this generous grant from Kaiser Federal Bank ESGVCH has been able to continue to keep the assistance center open 5 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to respond to basic human needs of homeless individuals and families in our local communities.
